Between 15 and 20 people are said to have been struck by the vehicle after it reportedly mounted the pavement

p to 20 people are feared to be injured after a van reportedly ploughed into pedestrians on London Bridge.

The vehicle mounted the pavement at the scene in central London this evening, according to shocked witnesses.

It comes just two months after a terrorist mowed down pedestrians at Westminster Bridge before stabbing an unarmed cop. Five victims were killed in the attack.

There are unconfirmed witness reports from the scene at London Bridge tonight that people may have been stabbed.

A witness told Reuters she saw people with apparent knife wounds on the bridge.

Another witness told Sky News gunfire was heard.

Armed police swarmed the area.

Holly Jones, a BBC reporter at the bridge when the incident happened, said a van had swerved off the road into a crowd of pedestrians.

“A white van driver came speeding – probably about 50mph – veered of the road into the crowds of people who were walking along the pavement,” she told BBC News.

“He swerved right round me and then hit about five or six people. He hit about two people in front of me and then three behind.

The Home Office has said it might not publish an inquiry into the funding of extremist groups because it might focus too much on Saudi Arabia; a country which the government has recently approved £3.5bn worth of arms export licences. This makes a mockery of the Conservatives’ claims to care about security, suggesting once again that they’re much more interested in making a profit than saving lives.
Launched by David Cameron in 2015, the inquiry in question was supposed to look at how extremist groups in the UK were being funded. It was a deal with the Lib Dems in return for them supporting airstrikes in Syria. This was when Theresa May was still Home Secretary. But now, the Home Office has said the report might not be published as it contains “very sensitive” information
It is no secret that Saudi Arabia in particular provides funding to hundreds of mosques in the UK, espousing a very hardline Wahhabist interpretation of Islam. It is often in these institutions that British extremism takes root.
